The Nordic Centre in India (NCI) is a consortium of leading universities and research institutions in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. It was established in 2001 with the objective to facilitate cooperation in research and higher education between the Nordic countries and India. Through academic exchange NCI seeks to strengthen Indo-Nordic ties and understanding.

RECENT NEWS

NCI is pleased to announce that Dr. Kristina Myrvold will be taking over as director of the NCI from the 1st of March 2012.

NCI has placed a call for applications for the post of Director. The formal announcement can be found here.

NCI held its General Assembly Meeting at University of Eastern Finland on 6th October 2011.

UEF Kuopio campus

University of Eastern Finland's Kuopio campus

A Hindi Study Programme in Varanasi, jointly organised by the Nordic Centre in India and Gandhian Institute of Studies, was held between the 29th of August to the 2nd of December 2011. This first full semester course had participants from Aarhus University, University of Oslo and Stockholm University. The course was developed by NCI Director Mirja Juntunen, who was also the Academic Coordinator of the course. The course will be given next time in Fall 2012 and will be open for applicants from the NCI Nordic member universities.
