The Nordic Centre in India (NCI) is a consortium of leading universities and research institutions in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. It was established in 2001 with the objective to facilitate cooperation in research and higher education between the Nordic countries and India. Through academic exchange NCI seeks to strengthen Indo-Nordic ties and understanding.

RECENT NEWS

NCI hosted a delegation from the Nordic Council of Ministers' Co-ordinating Committee for Nordic Studies Abroad and organised a series of lectures titled 'Nordic Perspectives - A Common Ground for Change' at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, the University of Hyderabad, and the India International Centre Annexe, New Delhi from the 1st to the 6th of March 2010. The abstracts of the lectures are available here.

NCI arranged a series of meetings at University of Hyderabad, Delhi University, Jawaharla Nehru University, and other institutions for a delegation visiting from the University of Oslo. The delegation were in India from the 27th of February to the 9th of March 2010.

NCI arranged a lecture by Professor Olafur Hardarson, Professor of Political Science and Dean of School of Social Sciences, University of Iceland on the topic 'Icelandic Politics: A Deviation from Scandinavian Norms' at the Arts and Aesthetics Auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on the 15th of January, 2010 at 3:30 pm.

NCI arranged a series of meetings for a delegation from the Nordic Council of Ministers' Co-ordinating Committee for Nordic Studies Abroad to India comprising of Prof. Ulfar Bragason, Head of the delegation, Chair of  the Coordinating Committee, Ms Monika Wirkkala, Swedish Institute, and Ms Marjut Vehkanen, CIMO, Finland (Centre for International Mobility) from the 30 November, 2009 to 3 December, 2009.
